Khenchen Tandin Sithub to Royal Thimphu College (RTC)

Khenchen was talking about all key leaders until now who have been playing the significant role in Bhutan. His speech was so relevant and entertaining. We got the special place to laugh out loud along with invaluable daily knowledgge and attitude we must possess.
He talked about Buddha Guatama, the first and ever who realized the reality of this world. He came to India 2562 year ago. At that times, India was like New York or London where different people gather together. Buddha strated his first teaching in Waranasi. But what is Buddha? In Tibetan, the Prince is known as Sang-gay. Buddha happened to be the first person who possess compassion and wisdom qualities. This two important qualtities makes him to be known as 'Buddha.'
Compassion is the exchange of our happiness with sufferings of others. It is not possible to transmit your compassion to the ones who are suffering today in other parts of the world , but you will be blessed to be born as a hero who can look into their problems. Buddha had never talked about differences we should perceive  but unexpectedly after him there were are so many bloodsheds and differences figured out among the human beings such as gender, race, ethnicity.  Buddha said that everyone has been your Guru, teacher, father, mother,  sister,  brother, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend, and friends. How are you able to hurt them?  Everyone is born equal. No differences. They are all your perceptions. Have love and compassion to every sentient being on the earth.
Khenchen talked about Guru Rinpoche who came to the world 1300 years ago. He was born from the heart of Sangay Yeopamey . Guru Rinpoche was a great tantric master who has power over all four elements. He first visited to Bumthang for the treatment of Gyalpo Sidhu Raza and sudued all demons. For the future flourishment of dharma, he had hidden many treasures to be discovered by the future masters. He is an important figures who blessed the land of Dragon with peace since then.
Venerable khenchen also talked about the significant figure of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Rinpoche. He came to Bhutan 400 years ago, to the place he was prophesied and shown by Raven. There was a great instability in the country before his settlement in the country. However,  his smartness and diplomatic skills stabilized all crisis of the country. And today he is respected and worshipped highly as great leaders by every Bhutanese.
Khechen was also embarking on the auspicious times happened more than a hundred years ago. Hereditary monarchy started for more stability of the country. Jigme Namgyal appeared to be a hero who could tame all pety leaders and make one nation. All grateful monarchs have been working fearlessly and tirelessly for the country. HM Jigme Singye Wangchuk appeared on the golden throne marking end of monarchy system but gifted with democracy to the people. The welfare of the state/government was all kep in order because of all farsighted  kings and otherhardworking leaders. The importance of maintaining a unique identity of the country is remarked knowing our national language. On the other hand, religious affairs are all taken care by all Je Khenpo (chief abbot of religion).
Finally, the guest touched upon the importance of short time. If we have very short time in this life, why you take drugs, why to revolt against your teacher or elders, why you drink alcohol, why you think bad to others, why you are egoistic, why you get divorced, and unhappy always. You have less time. And you have all centres of all times technologies. Spend your life efficiently in this brief lifespan. Moreover, interestingly remarked that we all are Buddha and we have Buddha within. He said that we have triple gem around, too. They are teachers as Buddha, books as dharma, and friends as sanga.

The naked dance

The naked dance called tercham in Bhutan is perceived as spiritual expositions of one in Buddhism. This dance is performed with the belief that it could dispel misfortunes and negative residues upon witnessing or participating as a dancer. Among several dances in the country, tercham is unique mask dance which is performed in only in three selective places of the country, it is performed in Nabji-korphu in Trongsa, Sakteng in Trashigang, and Jambay Lhakhang in Bumthang. Though tercham’s origin is not clearly revealed, it is believed to be introduced by the great saint Guru Padmasamvawa to beseech the local deities and garner the attention of demons who impeded the constructions of monasteries. A source also depicts that tercham was reintroduced only during the time of treasure discoverer Terton Dorji Lingpa in Nabji-Korphu and Jambay Lhakhang. Today tercham is integrated as a unique culture of the country. The dancers are picked from the volunteer mob, and they are enliste...

Hedonic bicycling to Paro

The second day of April was the pre-planned day for five of us to travel bicycling to Taktshang. We were of five who literally planned to land on the cliff of Paro Taktshang. Ozzie who was originally from the beautiful country called Switzerland was the brainchild of the plan on which all of us agreed excitingly. Another guy called Tay Powrie who was from Canada was very happy to join us. Sangay and Tshering were excited, too, as I did it. None of us had arrived at that destination except Tshering. "Here we go," we shouted with astonishment as we meet at the Four friends express way at Babesa. "Eki masho" I spoke in Japanese that I have learned of little when I participated in culture exchange program to Japan. And I used to joke with my roommate Tay often times. Only Tay understood. He laughed out and translated, "Let's go". "We're heading Paro" we trumpeted as loud as echoing it back to the college. Biking started. We desc...
