Public bus is a formal space

Many people in Thimphu are grateful to the Thimphu City Corporation for providing city bus services within the Thimphu valley. At the same time, the private buses such as Zambala transport and Lama transport bus services are provided to the people of Thimphu, north Thimphu in particular. Those private buses have been providing conducive services to the majority  people of Kabesa, Dechecholing and  Baygana.

I am a concern person from one of the those aforementioned places who have been using those buses for more than six months. The bus services have been benefiting during most of the peoole of the regions but each passenger's comfort should be concerned as well as he/she pays fare.

I won't hesitate to complain regarding my lastest travel by a bus, I have been experiencing the inhalation of unpleasant smell of sniffing so called thinner for two times. The smell of thinner was so strongly diffused in the bus. Including myself, almost all the passengers struggled to avoid the smell of thinner by covering their nostrils. The smell was pretty irritating and suffocating. The bus driver and the conductor had the knowledge who was sniffing but they were reluctant to find out who was the sniffer and take actions. It was almost a little lesser than an hour journey for me to reach my place. The smell of thinner was becoming stronger and stronger where even some had to leave the bus before they reach their place.

Therefore, the bus service being a public space, its job is not only to drop the passengers to their destinations but also important to take care each of their comfort by overseeing such unpleasant conduct happening in a bus. I would be glad if the authority in concern would look into it and discourage it to be found henceforth.

Though tercham’s origin is not clearly revealed, it is believed to be introduced by the great saint Guru Padmasamvawa to beseech the local deities and garner the attention of demons who impeded the constructions of monasteries. A source also depicts that tercham was reintroduced only during the time of treasure discoverer Terton Dorji Lingpa in Nabji-Korphu and Jambay Lhakhang. Today tercham is integrated as a unique culture of the country. The dancers are picked from the volunteer mob, and they are enliste...

Hedonic bicycling to Paro

The second day of April was the pre-planned day for five of us to travel bicycling to Taktshang. We were of five who literally planned to land on the cliff of Paro Taktshang. Ozzie who was originally from the beautiful country called Switzerland was the brainchild of the plan on which all of us agreed excitingly. Another guy called Tay Powrie who was from Canada was very happy to join us. Sangay and Tshering were excited, too, as I did it. None of us had arrived at that destination except Tshering. "Here we go," we shouted with astonishment as we meet at the Four friends express way at Babesa. "Eki masho" I spoke in Japanese that I have learned of little when I participated in culture exchange program to Japan. And I used to joke with my roommate Tay often times. Only Tay understood. He laughed out and translated, "Let's go". "We're heading Paro" we trumpeted as loud as echoing it back to the college. Biking started. We desc...
