Looking back with smile

It is my immense pleasure to join the entire family of Wangduecholing School to commemorate its 25th Anniversary. Albeit I have left the school no lesser than a decade ago, I still have a special place in my heart about this school. Needless to say, this school is at the peak of its greater success which is my pride as I was also a part of it. Before I share about my current whereabouts I humbly wish the school ‘Happy Silver Jubilee.’

I am Karma Yangki who had been in this school in 2009 and 2010 studying in class VII and VIII. It has exactly been ten years since I graduated from this school. After I graduated from this school, I went to Jakar Higher Secondary School. I was offered to study at Sonam Kuenphen School on full scholarship. I was also sent as a full scholarship candidate by the Department of Adult and Higher Education (DAHE) to Royal Thimphu College, a renowned in-country international college of the country. In July 2018, I successfully graduated with the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics& Environmental Science. Now I work as a Credit Officer in T-Bank Limited, Corporate Office, in Thimphu.

As Malala Yousafzai mentioned, “Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world,” I am very grateful to all the passionate teachers who had tirelessly worked hard to lift me at this stage. Also I am proud to see my seniors and mates shouldering significant responsibilities in various agencies and companies. The teachers’ hard work and enthusiasm invested in us had reaped today.

Besides classroom learning, I was fortunate to be showered with other life skills. I really liked the teachers who gave us something to take home to think besides our homework. Today, a majority of the former students are found adept and performing well in every stage of endeavor.

I am happy to witness the school prospering each year under the light of industrious teachers and active faculty members. I can vividly recall how was this school the then. Today I can see so many changes happening both environmentally and intellectually.

On this historic moment of the school, I would leave my heartiest wishes and prayers to blossom into more vibrant educational center. May the school soar with a greater height of success ahead. May this school move forward achieving goals of the community and nation at large.

Tashi Delek!

Stories of Ap Wang Drugay

Introduction According to Chang Dorji, an old man from Sonam Galing, Ap Wang Drugay’s initial name was Wang Dung-gyud . However, later his identity became popularized as Wang Drugay. Ap Wang Drugay’s stories are so popular in the western part of Bhutan particularly in the Wang region, now in Thimphu. His fascinating stories are also popular in some other parts of the country. That is why he is called by Chang-Ngan (meaning naughty) by the easterners. Wang Drugay is assumed to be there in the advent of twentieth century. He is a famous Bhutanese folk hero well-known for his extraordinary intelligence and beguilement, even today.   Wang Drugay was a wifeless man who would earn his living wandering the entire region by being shrewd with others. In his time, nobody would be successful in overcoming his cleverness or deviousness.   He would always leave the...

Back to southern foothills

A friend of mine and I had been waiting for the approval with regard to change of our placements from the RCSC for days with high hope. In a mean time we have been attached with the office for a couple of months. By the third week of March, we were made aware that we needed to be sent to our initial place of appointment. On 31st March we received the official relieving letter from the Head Office. We're asked to report to our respective workplace within the first week of April in case inconvenience was not caused due to the pandemic. Internally, Meera and I were worried about the ongoing housing issue both in our workplaces. Meera was at least glad that she got a guest house managed by her senior. She left to Phuentsholing within the first week of April from Paro. I still didn't get house. Yet I decided to stay in combine with friends for a week while I look for house. No sooner did I get the relieving letter than I tried for a publi...
