Looking back with smile

It is my immense pleasure to join the entire family of Wangduecholing School to commemorate its 25th Anniversary. Albeit I have left the school no lesser than a decade ago, I still have a special place in my heart about this school. Needless to say, this school is at the peak of its greater success which is my pride as I was also a part of it. Before I share about my current whereabouts I humbly wish the school ‘Happy Silver Jubilee.’

I am Karma Yangki who had been in this school in 2009 and 2010 studying in class VII and VIII. It has exactly been ten years since I graduated from this school. After I graduated from this school, I went to Jakar Higher Secondary School. I was offered to study at Sonam Kuenphen School on full scholarship. I was also sent as a full scholarship candidate by the Department of Adult and Higher Education (DAHE) to Royal Thimphu College, a renowned in-country international college of the country. In July 2018, I successfully graduated with the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics& Environmental Science. Now I work as a Credit Officer in T-Bank Limited, Corporate Office, in Thimphu.

As Malala Yousafzai mentioned, “Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world,” I am very grateful to all the passionate teachers who had tirelessly worked hard to lift me at this stage. Also I am proud to see my seniors and mates shouldering significant responsibilities in various agencies and companies. The teachers’ hard work and enthusiasm invested in us had reaped today.

Besides classroom learning, I was fortunate to be showered with other life skills. I really liked the teachers who gave us something to take home to think besides our homework. Today, a majority of the former students are found adept and performing well in every stage of endeavor.

I am happy to witness the school prospering each year under the light of industrious teachers and active faculty members. I can vividly recall how was this school the then. Today I can see so many changes happening both environmentally and intellectually.

On this historic moment of the school, I would leave my heartiest wishes and prayers to blossom into more vibrant educational center. May the school soar with a greater height of success ahead. May this school move forward achieving goals of the community and nation at large.

Tashi Delek!

Hedonic bicycling to Paro

The second day of April was the pre-planned day for five of us to travel bicycling to Taktshang. We were of five who literally planned to land on the cliff of Paro Taktshang. Ozzie who was originally from the beautiful country called Switzerland was the brainchild of the plan on which all of us agreed excitingly. Another guy called Tay Powrie who was from Canada was very happy to join us. Sangay and Tshering were excited, too, as I did it. None of us had arrived at that destination except Tshering. "Here we go," we shouted with astonishment as we meet at the Four friends express way at Babesa. "Eki masho" I spoke in Japanese that I have learned of little when I participated in culture exchange program to Japan. And I used to joke with my roommate Tay often times. Only Tay understood. He laughed out and translated, "Let's go". "We're heading Paro" we trumpeted as loud as echoing it back to the college. Biking started. We desc...
