The last sunset of 2018

As I wave off the old year with a fond adieu, I would never forget to reflect upon how wonderfully the year has come to an end. The year 2018 had shed a lot of unprecedented and mesmerising lights of ecstasy personally to me. It would be a big lie if I say the whole time was full of joy. There could be few unpleasant moments mixed but they are nowhere to be reflected as they are heavily cemented by the prolific exciting moments. 2018 provided a favorable time for the entire nation - first to emerge it into its third democratic parliamentary government and second to commemorate the 111th national day celebration in presence of three generation benevolent monarchs of the country. Those moments had created a special place in the hearts of all citizens of the country. And similarly, considering all my personal matters, the year will remain as one of the historic years in my life unto now. I define it as a remarkable year considering those three main important endeavours. One, I could ...

Life beyond the countryside

I was born in the extreme south-eastern part of the country where I did not have the opportunities to see the nature of the higher attitude area and fantasies of the world beyond Bhutan. I would not have gone beyond my own district if I hadn't gotten to joined the Royal Thimphu College (used as 'RTC' in the following lines). Exploring beyond my hometown was my first dream I had, after I completed  my high school education. Even if I get qualified for diploma enegineering, I decided that I would not go to a college which is just near my high school. My dream of exploring beyond the my own hamlet has dominated my long-term dream of becoming an engineer. I have never dreamt of joining myself at RTC. And I have never dreamt of pursuing Bachelor degree in arts because after all I came with pure science background from the high school. After the declaration of class XII result, I lost hope to get into a college. Nonetheless, my certain marks had dragged me to RTC to take up B....

National Day of the Dragonland

D ecember seventeen of each year is commemorated as the national day of Bhutan. On this remarkable day, every Bhutanese festooned with smiles come together to observe the historical moment of the country in paying their heartiest gratitude and appreciation to the visionary monarchs and farsighted forefathers. And especially on this propitious moment, no Bhutanese can let it pass being our leaders unremembered.  The year of 2018 is celebrated as 111th National day of the country. If I highlight flipping back the historical pages of the country, Bhutan began the first hereditary reign only after the coronation of Sir Ugyen Wnagchuck exactly one hundred and eleven years ago and secured the stability of the country. Prior to this unanimous general will, the country was under the theocratic rule of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. Zhabdrung bravely consolidated the country under his religious influences and mettlesome leadership. However, after his demise, the country shattered into d...

The most awaited moment

December 10, 2018 will remain as the most historical moment for me and also for the ones who excelled the BCSE. Today, the sixteen years of my education journey had delighted me with a delightful outcome of the national civil service examinations so called Bhutan Civil Service Examination (BCSE). For me, honestly speaking, initially after the exams I felt like I would stand somewhere below top 40 because I couldn't do written exams well and viva voce as expected. I even planned myself to reappear the exams next year. However, as the result day approached, I started garnering little hope in me to stand at least within top 40. Today, I was circummambulating the stupa built by Phajo Dugom Zhipo and Khandro Soenam Peldron for many rounds only with the hope to just have a good result. I faced the glaring statues as I sent my index number and CID number to 9313 with a long sigh. I couldn't believe myself as I received back the reply from RCSC standing on 35th rank with the score o...

Public bus is a formal space

Many people in Thimphu are grateful to the Thimphu City Corporation for providing city bus services within the Thimphu valley. At the same time, the private buses such as Zambala transport and Lama transport bus services are provided to the people of Thimphu, north Thimphu in particular. Those private buses have been providing conducive services to the majority  people of Kabesa, Dechecholing and  Baygana. I am a concern person from one of the those aforementioned places who have been using those buses for more than six months. The bus services have been benefiting during most of the peoole of the regions but each passenger's comfort should be concerned as well as he/she pays fare.  I won't hesitate to complain regarding my lastest travel by a bus, I have been experiencing the inhalation of unpleasant smell of sniffing so called thinner for two times. The smell of thinner was so strongly diffused in the bus. Including myself, almost all the passengers strugg...
